The Demon Writer

I will introduce you to this wonderful town called Lakefall. Lakefall was named that way because there is a lake in the center of the town that turns into a waterfall and becomes a river that leads to another town that is about a hundred miles away. All the inhabitants of Lakefall are dead and buried. The buildings are rotting and overgrown with weeds.
Only one person lives in this town and he happens to be alive (you would have to be alive in order to live). This single inhabitant is a writer and writes books. Everyday he wakes up, has breakfast, writes, has lunch, writes, has dinner, and then writes until he is tired and goes to sleep. The next morning, he wakes up and starts the same daily routine all over again.

One day, I walked into this town and went on a tour around the entire vicinity. The last place I happened to visit was the writer's home. He introduced himself to me as Vilder, the demon writer. When he told me about his work, I wondered what a demon writer actually did. I knew it had something to do with demons and writing. When I asked Vilder about it, he told me what it was all about. He said that he wrote stories about demons and their adventures. Sometimes the demons won and sometimes they lost in the various stories that he wrote. Sometimes his stories had no point at all. Sometimes he was basically writing philosophy on demons and how they lived by certain rules and regulations. I thought this Vilder fellow was nuts and maybe he was.

Vilder showed me the library he was building up and how he wanted other people to find these books and someday read them. I decided to read some of these books myself and give my "proffessional" opinion about them. I started reading one book about a demon who ate newborn babies and finished the first chapter. After the first night there in that town, I turned into the demon I was reading about. I traveled from Lakefall and ate three babies in the towns closest. This was a horrifiying thing, but I had no choice because I was virtually something else other than me. I still resembled me, but I was more demonic looking and ugly. I'll let you picture what I looked like, but whatever it was, it was not handsome.

One Sunday, I decided to go to church and eat some babies at this baby dedication service. I entered the church and felt an odd presence there. This presence was strange because it wasn't demonic like myself but something else. I made my way to the front of the church where the pastor was praying for the babies. I was about a several feet from the first baby when something/some force hit me. I fell back on the floor and saw a man dressed in a grey suit with an old sword in his hand. He had brown curly hair and was not so ugly as I was (I think he was quite goodlooking). I stood up to him and made ready for another lunge at the babies and he cut a deep wound in my gut area. Looking at my black demon blood on his sword, I fled the church and went to search for some first aid package for demons. There was none and I (the demon) decided to go back to my source which was Vilder, the demon writer in Lakefall.

Vilder saw me coming and came out to greet me. I dealt him a blow that carried him into his house and through the rearmost wall. He took one of his books and read it. Soon he became this green ugly dragon-like monster with wings that shot deadly poison arrows. We fought from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m. and after that we were both tired and he said some words that caused him to revert back to human form, but I was stuck in that ugly demonic shell that was my new body. I was going to kill Vilder if I didn't think there was a chance that he could turn me back into what I was before I read that book of his.

Night had fallen and now I was roaming the this ghost town of Lakefall like a ghost who is trying to remember how he died. I was trying to find ways in which I could turn myself back into my human form. Suddenly an idea dawned on me: I would find that same book I was reading and finish reading it. Maybe somewhere in those pages was a remedy for this terrible deformity and detestability that I was going through.

I walked steadily towards Vilder's house and then I heard voices coming from within. It seemed like Vilder had company. I took a look peek at the window and saw the most hideous demons having a conversation with the demon writer Vilder. Were these demons created from the demented writings of this psychopath or where they the original spawns of the devil himself?

Quickly, I tried to remember the layout of the house and where exactly I had left that book that turned me into this thing. After a few seconds of recall, I crashed through the door surprising all the inhabitants of the house. I ran into the room that I had used for a night and found the book on the pillow which was laying on the bed. I grabbed the book and smashed through the window glass. Spreading my wings, I flew as hard and fast as I could and turned around one time just to see if I was being followed and I saw nothing. I found a nearby town and hid myself behind a gas station. I did not sleep that night. I stayed up until morning and finished the entire book.

When I woke up the next morning, nothing had changed. I was still very demonic looking and super ugly. That is when I noticed on the back cover of the book there was some text written in very small print. I squinted my eyes and read something about a phrase that would reverse the effects of the book on the reader. I said this special phrase to myself (it was included in the text) and in less than a second of completing the phrase, I was back to my human form again. I'm not a good-looking person, but I would rather be the ugliest human than a demon any day of the week.

THE END.
